Project Fearlessness
I know that I haven’t posted in a very, very long time, but I am still dedicated to doing this project. Right now my computer situation is a little odd, so once I get back up and running, I will start posting and promoting more often. The ask box is always open!
a-good-start asked: Hey, I'd love to take part in this but I was just wondering what if you get too many submissions? Did you plan to have any on the back? Because if not, maybe that's something to consider if it won't all fit on the front. Just an idea though :) It's such a beautiful idea, I really like it :)
Oh, I’m definitely planning on putting them on the back if they don’t fit! I will take as many submissions as possible. Right now, I don’t think that it will be a problem because I’ve only gotten 3 so far. But yes, some will go on the back if necessary :)
I think your original blue color would be best! maybe a light shade? And V-neck looks great on everybody!
Thank you for your suggestion/input/thoughts!
Does anyone else agree?
I was planning on doing some trial shirts today, but I cannot find blue gel elmer’s glue anywhere for the life of me. I’ll try it with a different type of glue and we’ll see how that works. I’ll post results and things up here in a few days, but until then, send me your submissions!
In case you hadn’t heard, I have placed a deadline of March 31st for submitting your fearlessness signature. This is the absolute last day you can send it to me. It’s right before my spring break, so I’ll focus on getting a large portion of the project done that week.
Submit here or you can also email me at projectfearlessness@hotmail.com.
Thank you so much for all your interest! Start getting those posts in! (I print out all of them. They’re incredible.)
I’ve been asked a few times about deadlines. I’ve decided on a deadline of March 31st. Please get your fearlessness signatures in by then, and I will make sure to get it on the shirt. Past that point, I’ll try my best, but I can’t make any promises :/
In other news, what color do you think would be best? And would you want a v-neck or a regular crew shirt?

Won’t you submit something today?
This is what most would call “frequently asked questions.” However, since I haven’t actually received many questions, this will be just random things that I think people might ask.
Q. So…what do I have to do, exactly?
A. Just get a white sheet of paper and write “fearlessness” on it. Keep it linear (so as to fit it on a shirt) and use a pen or a dark marker. I probably won’t include wingdings (like hearts and things—-I love them, but I have a plan for that later). You can make it as pre-designed or as simple as you want. No matter what you do, everyone has different handwriting, so as long as it’s yours, it will work. Other than that, there aren’t really many rules. Then scan it (or you could take a picture of it, I guess if you don’t have a scanner) and submit it here. Include your name, age, state (or country if you don’t live in the US) and what fearlessness means to you.
Q. Why do I have to include my name, age, state, and the writing thing?
A. Hopefully when we send/give the project to Mariska, she’ll wonder where the signatures came from. This way, we can hand her a booklet with further explanation. If you buy the shirt, you’ll get this, too. Feel free to exclude your last name, age, and location if you want to. But please at least give your first name and a small paragraph (100-200 words, but it’s flexible) on what fearlessness means to you.
Q. So I can buy this when it’s done? Where? When?
A. Yes! I’ve set up an account on etsy specifically for this project. I still need to work out a LOT of details first, but I will let you know as soon as I set up shop. As for when that will be, I honestly don’t know. It depends on when I get enough signatures, how many I can fit on a shirt (it’s no longer become “will I get enough” but “if all these people really do want to do this how will they all fit” and that’s AMAZING). But I’ll let you guys know!
Q. Can I submit more than one?
A. Right now, no. I’d like to keep it at one for now. If things slow down and I feel like I need more, then I will open it up to allow more than one submission.
Q. What color will the shirt be?
A. I have been agonizing over this for awhile. I don’t know. Every time I picture it in my head, it’s blue. I mean, that is JHF’s signature color. So if anyone completely disagrees with this, let me know. But for now, plan on blue.
Q. If I buy a shirt, where will the money go? Will you stuff it in your piggy bank to support your Sherlock and SVU addiction?
A. Partially, yes :D I’m kidding of course, in part. To be honest, I’m hoping to buy the lotus pendant by Me & Ro. 100% of the proceeds from this necklace go to Joyful Heart. Past that, I’d like to donate the profits directly to the Joyful Heart Foundation.
Q. Who are you?
A. My name is Rebekah. I’m 18 and I started watching SVU in April of 2011. Mariska opened my eyes to the issue of rape and sexual assault. She’s also been a terrific role model in my life and definitely at times one of the only positive voices in my life that I was able to hear. I’m an aspiring theatre actress. Anything else you’d like to know, visit my blog.
I’ve gotten so much interest in this project already in the extremely short amount of time that this blog has been up. I want to thank each and every one of you for sending me notes telling me that you’ll do this. I appreciate every single one of you.
Oh, and I officially have the first submission. Let the fun begin. And let’s hope it doesn’t take over my life :P
FAQ is coming soon!
olivia-svu asked: Hi there! This is such a beautiful idea :) I would love to take part in this, if that's okay! When you say "What fearlessness means to you", do you want a sentence or a single word? Its seems like a really big undertaking to have to reproduce everyone's handwriting/font... how do you plan on doing it?
A paragraph was what I was planning on, for a little booklet thing to go along with the shirt. And as for the handwriting, I’ll have my super technological artsy friend help me turn them into purely digital pictures on photoshop. Then we’ll size them all similarly and print them out on a large sheet of paper to go under the shirt, and then we will trace it onto the shirt (or somehow) with glue. No lie, it will be a very long and difficult process, and maybe I’ll find an easier way, but I think it will look beautiful!
I’m putting together a little project for SVU/JHF supporters and fans to come together to make something beautiful that I’d eventually like to send to Mariska. Follow @PFearlessness on twitter or go to the Project Fearlessness tumblr.
The main idea is to have a shirt that says “fearlessness,” but in different people’s handwriting. I’d like to have 25-30 people submit, and I’m going to promote this until I either give up hope that anyone is interested or I get enough ‘signatures.’ So please help! It doesn’t take that long!
